Myles Convington was born on April 2, 1951 to Robert Almond and Annie B. Covington. He attended Summersville Elementary School and then attended Summersville High School where he played football. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Military and served in the Marines. He then married his sweetheart, Carolyn. After receiving his honorable discharge, Myles started working as a civilian on the railroad, traveling from state to state. In 1975, he landed in Jacksonville, Florida. He then began a career as a brick mason, which kept him busy. He assisted with building many businesses throughout Jacksonville, including the Jacksonville Landing. Being saved as a young boy, he always knew to keep God first. In 2002, Myles retired for health reasons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Curtis Coleman; ex-wife, Carolyn Covington; stepson, Virgil Wilkerson; his dear ex-partner and very good friend, Alice Faye Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Tracy (Tony) Convington-Rupert, Myles Covington, Jr., Joe Bolden (Catherine), Shannon Thomas and April Wilkerson; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; Favorite uncle /best friend, George Covington; his partner, Linda Hargrove; special doggy, Lucky; very dear friend, Mr. Gary; a host of cousins and other relatives.
