Roy Mobley was born on January 5,1939 in Lyons, Georgia to June B. and Lenora Mobley.
Roy was the first born of fifteen children, where he grew up in Lyons, Georgia.
He attended Johnson Corner Public Schools in Toombs County Georgia where he received his education.
Roy later moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1957, where he became employed with Kuhn Flowers for many years. Roy advanced himself and became an entrepreneur by establishing Mobley Lawn Services. He continued his lawn care services in the Jacksonville area for many years, until his health began to fail him.
When time permitted, Roy enjoyed fishing and playing checkers.
On Saturday, May 27, 1978, Roy was united in Holy Matrimony to Rena Brown and to this this union, they were blessed with a loving daughter, Makovassa Elizabeth Newman.
After establishing a family in Jacksonville, Florida, he joined Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S.P. Donald.
September 30, 1979, he was ordained as a Minister on the Gospel. Roy pastored at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was also the Interim Pastor of Thankful Missionary Baptist. Reverend Roy Mobley served faithful as an Associate Minister of the Saint Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the East Florida and Bethany Baptist Association.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Cynthia Mobley; Sisters, Carolyn, Emma Lee, and Willie Mae Mobley; Brothers: Raymond, Alden, and Van Mobley; Granddaughter, Andrea Mobley.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Rena Brown Mobley; Children, Sylvia Neither, Benita Mobley, Roy Mobley, Makovassa Newman (Leonard) and Shavonnya Thomas (Bishop Nathan Thomas); Grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Vincent, Lavoris (Alexa) Nathaniel Mobley, De’Juan Wilson, Marquise’ Newman, Elizabeth Mobley, Danielle Jeffferson (Eric), Shakira Neither, La’ Naria Newman, Nicole Thompkins (Ebony) and Latrell Carter; Thirteen great granddaughters; Six great grandsons.

Reverend Mobley is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and his devoted church family, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church.
